A couple of years ago we received a WWII Army Air Corps uniform from the family of a deceased WWII veteran, complete with a set of Corps of Engineers pins. The family told us that he entered the Army as an engineer and worked in the Air Corps building air strips. When the Air Corps split off from the Army he chose to remain in the Army Corps of Engineers. His Air Corps uniform sat perfectly preserved in a cedar chest for over 73 years.
One of these sets of pins was still on that uniform, and two other sets were found in the pockets. Why these pins were saved rather than used on his new Army uniform, we will never know. This is one of those sets.
Brass.
A must for any WWII collection.
